Lake Bde Maka Ska was a part of my routine, even if it was just for a quick walk/run around the lake. Sometimes these quick walk-ins would happen before a storm. I took the reference photo at an eye level perspective for this painting because I thought it would be a fun challenge. I was on a run before heavy rain. The way the pink flowers contrasted against the dark blue stormy sky is what initially drew me to create this painting. I especially enjoyed enhancing the deep green hues seen in the foreground.
